Nucano, meaning “Great Fire”, was a brave Mixtec warrior who ruled the Zapotecs with nobility and respect. According to legend, he and his beloved, the Zapotec princess Donají, rest under a tombstone in the church of Cuilapam de Guerrero in Oaxaca.
